Tessa Talks with Founder of Strength to Strength Elise

Fitness fanatic and founder of mobile training service Strength to Strength Mental & Physical Healthcare Elise Falloon approaches health from a holistic perspective. Strength to Strength’s mission is to find healthy outlets for people to instil balance in their lives and better manage their mental health: “We aim to reduce isolation and increase social interaction within the community through physical activity for overall mental health and wellbeing.”

We reached out to Elise to dig deeper and find out more about her rituals, experiences and habits surrounding health and wellness.

Q: Where were you born and raised?

A: Toowoomba, QLD. Raised in Warwick and on the Gold Coast. 

Q: How did where you were raised influence your healthy habits?

A: Fortunately, being active & healthy has always been a way of life for us as a family, so it is something that has been instilled in me from a young age. We were taught that food is a source of energy. As kids, I remember we played every sport our mum could take us to or we were always at the beach.

I think as a sibling of four, it was easier for my parents to be organised and pack foods such as fruit salads and sandwiches as opposed to buying unhealthy takeaway all the time. I also think being active and involved in sports as a young kid and through out the teenage years has a huge influence on how you learn and grow. 

Q: What is one of your daily rituals?

A: Morning coffee at home. I like to sit down and enjoy it with no technology around. I find this helps me start the day with a clear mind. It is almost like my form of meditation as I try and not let my mind race too much. 

Q: What are you currently working on? 

A: Being a mum!! And a few projects within my business Strength to Strength Mental & Physical health care. So I think you could say I am currently working on creating a sustainable work-life balance.

Q: What is one of the biggest challenges you have faced in your life career wise?

A: Making the decision to study and change my career from working for someone to starting my own business.

Q: What are some ways you handle stress and pressure?

A: I am the type of person that loves working under pressure, so I tend to force that upon myself. When I do feel stressed I always go for a run. Running is my outlet. 

I am also big on writing to do lists and reminders. If you saw my calendar it is filled with so many, even the smallest of things. I find this really helps me prioritise and feel organised. 

Q: What is your greatest strength?

A: I think I am quite a positive and easy going person. I also can’t sit still, so I use this to my advantage to get things done and multitask.

Q: What is your greatest weakness?

A: My weakness is definitely caring so much about what people think that it can stop me from being myself. I am working on this! 

Q: Who inspires you?

A: My Mum. She has taught me that even through tough times, if you put your mind to something you can do it…

Q: What inspires you?

A: I am inspired by many things such as people, books and travel. However, I now have a 7-week-old baby girl and I am even more so inspired by every mother and woman out there. Motherhood is just such an amazing thing, and I feel so fortunate enough to experience it that it truly has inspired me to be the best version of myself for my family. 

Q: How is sustainability a part of your life?

A: Sustainability has always been a part of my life and it is always something I continue to work on and educate myself on. I think 2020 has been a year for change and awareness for most people, every little bit helps. I have 4 simple non negotiable sustainable habits:

  • Recycling
  • Reusable bags 
  • No food waste
  • Keep-cup for coffee 

I am trying my best with clothing and baby products. 

Q: What is your biggest wellness indulgence?

A: Loco Love Chocolate or the Pana Chocolate Ice Cream – both to die for. Also wouldn’t say no to a wellness holiday!

Q: What are your 3 clean, non-toxic beauty must haves?

A: Aesop facial oil, Inika Organic Mineral Powder, IBU Herbal Body Oil (my saviour postpartum). 

Q: What are your 3 wellness must haves?

A: Lavender oil, Vitality Switch Greens Powder, JW Tonic One.

Q: What’s your ideal way to switch off?

A: Going for a run and swim in the ocean.

Q: What are you currently reading, watching and/or listening to? 

A: Watching: Masterchef, I love it! Reading: Change Your Thinking by Sarah Eldeman; and a novel – The Girl Before.

Q: Where is your favorite place to travel?

A: Europe. 

Q: What do you eat for breakfast in the morning?

A: My go to smoothie bowl: spinach, coconut oil, maca powder, cacao powder, banana, frozen berries, chia seeds, coconut milk.
